I constructed this timber framework stairs from recovered light beams that came from another customer’s home a few miles up the road. The light beams use to sustain a pergola, that was taken apart during their remodel. We brought them back to my store and also cut all the joinery, to mimic a wood framing.
We made a design template of the location where the stairways where mosting likely to go and also brought it back to the shop as well as pre-made them. The mount was fairly straightforward as they were already in constructed in areas. All that was left was to put them in position and bolt them in.
The via tenons with the wedges were obviously, as much of my job. Motivated by traditional Japanese joinery techniques.
